FAQ and Contacts

Here are some points collected for ease of reference. We would appreciate you reading this before attempting to make contact.

What is W.O.E.

Works Of Ein is a web-based un-label created for the purpose of distributing underground music by artists who’s idiosyncrasies, and vision set them apart in their respective genres. Artists whose work exudes atmosphere and evokes mental imagery above and beyond the limits of musicians in a studio. This includes, but is not limited too, Death Metal, Black Metal, Industrial, Doom, Dark Ambient and their various permutations. Initially the format will be as free downloads with the intent to expand into limited physical artifacts.

Will you sign/release my band/project/creative output?

Probably not.

How can I send you my/our work?

You can’t. WOE was initially set up by Ein (Halo of the Sun, Kult of Eihort) and Brooke (several bands that you’ve  never heard of and would not like if you had) to release their own music and very occasionally outside projects they both really dig.  We currently have as many artists as we wish to work with at this point in time. However we do scour the back waters of the web looking for interesting entities in the depths and if we find something that fires our passions we will be in contact quick sharp. If you really, really think we will be into what you are doing then the electron mail coordinates are at the bottom of the page.

Why are your releases free?

Because we can. The gods help those who help themselves and we are really interested in working with projects willing and able to self produce. We can offer assistance with recording, mixing, mastering and graphic design just not financially. We or the individual artist may offer a pay what you like system but really if you create art for its own sake and your own enjoyment why do you need to be remunerated?

So whats your point of existing?

Because we can. As stated above we can assist with the technical aspects of recording and will be providing a service with promoting the releases, something artists are usually unable or unwilling to do to a great extent on their own. Even in the digital age there still seems to be a stigma attached to artists self releasing, no matter how good. Having even an un-label behind our artists will hopefully counter this. Because we will be making a pittance or most likely even less than that we will only be working with artists we really, REALLY, REALLY  like.

I think it’s a stupid idea and you will fail miserably.

Then jog on. We would rather try and fail than fail to try at all.

Do you offer physical product?

No.  The kind of artists we enjoy and will be working with inhabit niches within niches and their desire is for the music to be heard. Digital distribution is the most effective method of doing this. We do plan to produce limited runs of specially packaged artifacts but will most likely never expand into mass-produced media. The costs involved with manufacturing, distributing, storing and advertising make it untenable for an organisation of our size.

How do I contact you/your artists?

Send inquiries to: works of ein a t yahoo dot co dot uk after reformatting appropriately but you knew that right. Right. As above, if you’re soliciting a project we will contact you if interested, repeated hassle will get you nowhere. Please state clearly in the header what your request is about so we don’t overlook it: press, demo submission, artist question ect
